Road Closures

Fixed Closure – This is where the roads are closed to allow for safe deployment and removal of race infrastructure and also to allow the safe operation of the event. We aim to reopen roads as soon as it is safe to do so.

Sussex Street to Bridge Street (Whit Bear Junction)

To help keep local traffic operating as far as possible throughout the day, vehicles will be able to cross the race route in both directions between Sussex Street and Bridge Street.

  • Up until 1100

  • From 1400-1630

  • From 1830

    A fully signed diversion for through traffic will be in place to help reduce traffic flows in the town centre.

Car Parking

In order to ensure the safety and security of the race, spectators and other road users, no parking is allowed on the race route and South End, Market Pace or North End from 1800 Thursday 2nd May through to 2200 Friday 3 May.

Please ensure that your vehicles(s) are moved from these areas by 1800 Thursday 2nd May. Alternative parking arrangements for impacted residents are available from Thursday evening, at Bedale Golf Club and Bedale High School. To obtain a resident /permit for these locations, please contact Bedale Town Council clerk@bedale-tc.gov.uk or 01677 427949.

Any vehicles that are parked within the restricted areas may be removed.

Both public car parks on Bridge Street will be closed from 1800 Thursday 2nd May until 2000 Friday 3rd May.

Alternative car parking will be available at the fields next to the bypass roundabout and at Bedale Athletic Sports Association (BASA). Additionally Wensleydale Railway are operating a park and ride service from Leeming Bar and services from Redmire / Leyburn throughout the day. We appreciate that this may cause some inconvenience however your support and assistance in helping to ensure the safety and security of the race, spectators and other road users is greatly appreciated.

Alternate Travel Modes

Where possible we are encouraging people to leave the car at home on Friday 3rd May and use more sustainable modes of transport. If you are coming to watch the race and enjoy the festivities, walking from your home to watch will be the easiest way to get around.
